Approved Document J – Combustion appliances and fuel storage systems

The following document J is to be used with installation of all solid fuel fireplaces stoves chimneys etc and covers the installation of these appliances.

Castfireplaces strongly suggests you use a HETAS registered fitter which who will be able to self-certificate the work thus avoiding the need for costly building notice applications.

It is a requirement of law that these are installed by a recognised competent person who is appropriately qualified and that the installation complies with all local, national and European building regulations

This basically is the fitter’s bible and contains all the detailed information you would need should you decide to get it fitted and then signed off by Building Controls

Approved Document J provides guidance and requirements with respect to the installation of solid fuel burning appliances.
